HISTORY
The Family of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus is a Private Association of the Faithful, founded by Rev. Vu Thanh An, a permanent deacon of the Roman Catholic Church, on October 1, 2005, at the our Lady of Sorrows Parish, Oregon, USA. Inspired by the spirituality of the “Little Way” of St. Therese of the Child Jesus, this spiritual family of Catholic Christians prays and does spiritual and corporal works of mercy especially for the senior citizens and the elderly. “The purpose of the Family of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus (CC 304, § 1) is to love the Lord, the Good Shepherd and come to Him through the Little Way of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus.”
It was first recognized in the Diocese of Portland, USA, by a Decree of Archbishop John G. Vlazny on December 8, 2009 and later on by several Dioceses in Vietnam namely, Archdiocese of Hue, Diocese of Da Lat, Diocese of Bui Chu and Diocese of Thanh Hoa.

Implementing the Little Way of Saint Therese of the Child Jesus , following the example of Saint Louise and Zelie Martin.
ORGANISATION
The Family of Saint Therese is organised at the parish, diocesan and national level. At each level there is a Council made up of married couples and single members, with a priest Spiritual Director.

The Family of Saint Therese is present in 9 countries as follows: United States of America, Vietnam, The Philippines, Tanzania, Congo, France, India, El Salvador, Mexico

FOUNDER
Deacon An Vu, a convert to the Catholic Church in March 21, 1981, the Feast of Saint Joseph in the Prison of the North Vietnam Communists in the Re education Camps since he was an Government Official of South Vietnam which is collapsed in 1975. He was imprisoned almost 10 years with hard labor.
He resettled in the US in 1991.
He was ordained Permanent Deacon of the Archdiocese of Portland on November 23, 2002 by the Archbishop John G. Vlazny.
